Last Tuesday, Mr Erskine sailed across to Hoy to help the North Walls children with the release of their fry. At least 250 fry were released and even though they were slimmer than last year, they were still frisky enough to be difficult to net!
It was very windy and bitterly cold, but Mr Stout’s 17 hardy pupils didn’t seem to mind and the adults were too busy to notice.
Only one fry was a bit deformed, having failed to emerge completely from the egg casing.
Well done to all at North Walls for such a high success rate despite the late release, particularly Olivia who even went in to check the tank at the weekends and Mr Erskine for the time and energy he invested in the project and for his dedication to the “troot” cause!
